About a month and a half ago, I mailed my broken J.A. Henckles Chef Knife back to the company with a letter hoping they would replace it.
Well, about a week ago, I received a brand new knife in the mail! I am so happy that J.A. Henkles honored their lifetime guarantee even though my damage was to the wooden handle, not the steel. Regardless, I finally have a chef's knife again!
Lesson learned: if something breaks "before it's time," contact the company and try to get a free replacement! During these tough economic times, it does a company good to make positive connections with loyal customers. I love J.A. Henkles knives and will use them for life. They are really worth the investment. Score one for my cooking skills!
All I have are super cheap knives. I'll have to look into those.
